Museum info

The Museum of the Risorgimento is housed in the 18th-century Palazzo Moriggia, designed in 1775 by Giuseppe Piermarini, adjacent to the vast Brera complex.

Through a diverse array of materials including prints, paintings, sculptures, drawings, weapons, and memorabilia, the collections illustrate the period of Italian history between Napoleon Bonaparte's first campaign in Italy (1796) and the annexation of Rome to the Kingdom of Italy (1870).

The exhibition highlights key episodes in 19th-century Milanese history and the construction of national identity during the Risorgimento. The Museum has a library and archive that are among the most important in Italy for the study of recent national history.
