Museum info

The Civic Archaeological Museum of Milan is located in an extraordinary architectural setting, the former Benedictine convent of the Monastero Maggiore, annexed to the church of San Maurizio. It includes collections of Greek, Etruscan, Roman, early medieval, and Gandhara art.
Among the exhibits are the "Diatreta Trivulzio," the "Patera di Parabiago," and medieval goldsmith works. The monastery is located in an area of great historical importance due to the presence of ancient Roman remains. A square tower, part of the Roman circus, was reused as a bell tower, and a second polygonal tower as a chapel. The archaeological remains are now visible inside the Museum.
